Commuter Patterns and Labor Market Analysis

While the Western Illinois region has experienced relatively low unemployment rates in recent years, there remains a significant labor pool available for new opportunities. Unemployed, underemployed, and re-entering retirees represent a combined 268,195 potentially available workers.

Workers living in Adams County but commuting elsewhere also expressed a willingness when surveyed to take a comparable job closer to home, enhancing the available workforce once again.

Employers in this region report that the availability of workers is generally very good. Labor quality is also rated as good to very good by employers.
