A set of data representing numerically the extent to which a community shows various tested characteristics.
The City of Quincy is pleased to partner with GREDF for economic development services and to provide information for this profile, but our community is more than a dot on a map or data in a table.
The fact that we’re located in the heart of America doesn’t just refer to our central location; it speaks volumes about our workforce, work ethic and quality of life.
River, rail, highways and commercial air service provide outstanding market access today. But the mansions, commercial buildings, and well-kept cottages in our four historic districts are a testament to the river boats and railroads of the 19th century. Many industries that flourished then still thrive today, contributing to this community in ways that employment graphs simply don’t project.
Though we have a population of 40,000, Quincy is the largest city in a 100-mile radius,
and a commercial hub for 600,000 people. That makes Quincy a major medical provider,
a regional shopping draw, a vital employment center, and a thriving community for
cultural arts and recreation.
We care about businesses whether they are on the major employers list or employ only one or two. We know the people in our demographic tables and mentor the students behind the test scores. If you are not familiar with Quincy, I invite you to learn the stories behind our numbers, and experience the character in our characteristics.
