2024 Sports Feasibility Study

In August 2024, Synergy Sports Global (Synergy) was engaged by the Great River Economic Development Foundation to complete a Feasibility Study, Market Summary, Programming Recommendation, and Recommendations on facility size, budget, Economic Impact, and Visitor Expectations related to the potential development of a indoor court complex with complimentary amenities in the city that would be focused on expanding on the community’s access to sports and recreation amenities in addition to driving new visitor spending to the Quincy area by establishing itself as a destination for tournaments and events. City of Quincy and Partners Seek Land Proposals for Regional 

The City of Quincy, in collaboration with the Quincy Sports Commission and the
Great River Economic Development Foundation (GREDF), is now accepting site proposals from
property owners and representatives for land to be considered for the development of a new
regional sports complex.

The City of Quincy, in collaboration with the Quincy Sports Commission and the
Great River Economic Development Foundation (GREDF), is now accepting site proposals from
property owners and representatives for land to be considered for the development of a new
regional sports complex.

The complex is envisioned as a hub for community recreation, youth sports, regional
tournaments, and economic development. It may include both indoor and outdoor facilities and
serve as a long-term asset for tourism and quality of life in the Tri-State region.

Proposal Submission Details

GREDF will accept both sealed and electronic site proposals starting today, August 11, through 4:00 PM on September 26, 2025. Sites ranging from 5 to 55 acres will be considered, with preference given to locations that offer:
  • Build-ready terrain
  • Access to utilities
  • Adequate space for future expansion
Ideal properties should be properly zoned or easily rezoned, accessible, and free of significant environmental or topographical challenges.
 
Proposals must include:
  • Legal property description
  • Site maps
  • Zoning information
  • Purchase terms
  • Additional criteria as specified in the RFP

Selection Process

A subcommittee of the Quincy Sports Commission will review submissions based on factors such as:
  • Site size
  • Location
  • Cost
  • Topography
  • Access to utilities
Top proposals may be invited to present to the full commission. A final site recommendation will be made to the Quincy City Council this fall.
 

A Vision for the Future

This request for proposals marks the beginning of a multi-phase project, including site selection, facility design, operator engagement, and construction planning throughout the next year. The new complex is expected to become a regional destination for athletes, families, and visitors alike.
